johnfelstead Posted April 26, 2002 Posted April 26, 2002 Note to mods: I know i shouldnt really post here but i have to make a decision monday so would apreciate you being a bit flexible. Hi guys, I have just been informed that my Westfield Zei220 is being written off as a categoryC write off. This means it is suitable for repair and return to the road so I am being allowed to buy the car back as salvage. I am losing a few thousand on its real value so this may be an option for me to try and recoup some funds. The reason for this mail is simple, to see if there is any SERIOUS interest in buying this car from me so that it could be rebuilt. I don’t have the time or the heart to spend on it but it would be fantastic if someone out there would take it on. The car needs a new chassis and body, although the damage to the body may be reparable as it’s just the front left corner and some nose cone damage, it depends how nice you want the car really. The other damage is the front left corner suspension and steering rack. Obviously it would require you taking a look and judging for yourself but the rest of the car is perfect. I have a full listing of parts required if you are interested. I am considering breaking the car for parts also but would love for this to be rebuilt. I really need to make a decision Monday afternoon as to whether I go to the hassle and risk of buying the car back as I am having to pay more than I would have liked really. Please email me on john.felstead@btinternet.com if you are serious, as I don’t want to mess about and don’t want to make a big mistake financially. If you are interested in the parts, mail me too as that would give me something to work with also. This is the perfect project for someone who has the time to put into rebuilding this car, it could be the performance bargain of the year, I just cant get enthused about doing the work myself. Robertio Posted April 26, 2002 Posted April 26, 2002 Very sorry to hear that John, I was really hoping they wouldn't write it off I hope you are planning something nice to replace it. Quote
johnfelstead Posted April 26, 2002 Author Posted April 26, 2002 I am pretty gutted about it to be honest. It's too early to think about replacing the car, not easy to replace something that does 0-60 in 3.2 and gets to 153MPH in 17.5 seconds whilst sitting in leather seats with the wind in your hair, never mind the pace it had on track. Chris Elworthy Posted April 27, 2002 Posted April 27, 2002 John We've never met - sounds like you were pretty attached to that Car. How about rebuilding it with some encouragement and help from your mates, AND sorting all of those niggly things that we all have which we'll sort out one day. Go on, rebuild it. Chris Elworthy Quote
johnfelstead Posted April 27, 2002 Author Posted April 27, 2002 Please dont get me started guys, this is not an easy decision. I know i could rebuild it but i just dont want to. I dont have the time, i am running a GroupA Escort cosworth in the BTRDA and am helping build a 6litre Esprit GT car with prototype engine, not to mention a 700BHP/Tonne Ariel Atom and i hope to give ian and craig a hand on occasion with the XTR2 once they get into the more technical stuff. If i did keep it, it would just sit there for 12 months, i just cant afford that, it's heart braking seeing the thing every morning when i go to work too. I have a few interested parties who would build the car back up and get it back on the road, i hope that actually happens. Just time for me to move on really. I am very sad about my time with the car ending this way but i genuinely hope someone brings it back to life because its awesome. Big ass piccie, just so you can see what we are talking about.
