GuyH Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 All, Want to get a bullet cam but not keen on having the digital video camera sitting in the footwell of the car. I know you can get DVRs that record onto memory cards, and wondered if anyone is using one with a bullet cam. If so, which one ? What is the quality like ? Ta Quote
adhawkins Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Have you seen the one I was using this weekend? Nisis DV6. I mounted it to the roll bar using a proper motorsport mount. Total cost less than 200 quid for camera, mount and card. Some (edited) footage from it here. Andy Quote
GuyH Posted September 7, 2005 Author Posted September 7, 2005 What FPS can you get at what resolutions with that Andy ? Quote
adhawkins Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 640x480 @ 30fps Plenty for me. Edit: The original thread I created when I got it (including a link to specs etc.) is here. Andy Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 congrats on yer prize hawkins , good footage was looking to but a bullet shortly but I thought the field of view a bit narrow , is there a wide angle option ? Quote
adhawkins Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 That's as wide as it goes I think. It was the first run out for the camera, so maybe I can try something different next time. Andy Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 just wondered if there is an add on wide angle lens adaptor? no mention of it in the spec might be worth enquiring . 3rd party ones are available if you can find one that will fit your camera Quote
adhawkins Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Not a bad idea. I'll see what I can find. Andy Quote
GuyH Posted September 7, 2005 Author Posted September 7, 2005 er... couldn't help noticing... did you win something at the weekend Andy ? Quote
adhawkins Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 What gives you that impression? It's Ok for you, this is my first (and quite possibly last for a while) trophy. I can't help being made up Andy Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 What gives you that impression? It's Ok for you, this is my first (and quite possibly last for a while) trophy. I can't help being made up Andy Well done and congrats Andy-good footage. I use a Sony 2.9 wide angle as a bullet cam along with an additional mike which I placed on top of the tranny tunnel. This eliminates the wind nose and lets u hear the engine revving and generally it sound fine. I used it for the 1st time on this year’s C2C so U’ll get an idea as and when Si gets his finger out and releases the DVD Buzz P.S use Vegas 4.0 as editing suite. Quote
Guest Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 try RF concepts they have a portable 40GB mini DVR Quote

GuyH Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 Nice footage Paul, and well avoided coming out of the final chicane! That unit is pretty much what I'm looking for, and the quality looks fine, with a good fps. Can it take sound too though ? Quote

Yes you can record sound with it Guy, just need a small mic, like this one: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.....doy=8m9 and a 3.5 jack to phono adaptor to plug into the lead supplied with PVR. The volume of the sound is not huge, but if your going to edit the video you can usually up the volume with the editor. Quote
