kik1.6se Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Here are a few photos of my weekend: - How it was: Engine out: Engine bay needed a bit of a tidy: New meets old: Almost there: The old engine was standard apart from the carbs, giving out about 120bhp. THe new engine is Mark Stanton's old CVh which according to this : http://www.ferriday.co.uk/performance/solid_lifters.htm is over 150bhp. Thanks to Mark, my Dad for helping me and every one who gave advice and offered to help. Kirk p.s. the title was suppose to say 1.6 cvh to 1.6 cvh engine conversion . Quote
CrashBangWallop Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Hang on a minute... You've put the same one back in! Look, the rocker cover is the same in the last photo as the first. Unless you've cunningly changed them over, of course. Neil Quote

Yes cunning I may need to adjust the light for the MOT, might be a bit out Peter, why not change the engine without taking the gearbox out? Kirk Quote
kik1.6se Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 Polo rad next then... The rad is staying for now. It probably keeps it too cold, but it'll be good in Le Mans. Kirk Quote
Mark B Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Looking good Kirk, I see you got the silicon hoses then... See you tomorrow night Quote
Bryan C Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I'm impressed - a good bit of work in thetime. However, I thought you had to take the CVH and gearbox out together as there is not enough space in front of the block. Is it a 5-sp type 9 for the record ?. Just in case / next time query as I had the same layout and rad off, lifted the whole unit out with gearbox ( and it took me a lot longer ! ) Regards Bryan C. Quote

See you tomorrow night I thought you had to take the CVH and gearbox out together as there is not enough space in front of the block. Is it a 5-sp type 9 for the record ?. Yep, Highbury Hose were cheaper than anywhere else and delivered quickly, I was really impressed by their service. The old hoses were starting to crack so i needed the Silicopne hoses. They look cool as well . We didn't have a problem taking the engine out without the gearbox, there seemed to be plenty of room. We just had to be careful of the brake pipe, but it still wasn't in the way. It is a type 9 box. Kirk Quote
