RICHARD+PHILIP Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Before anyone starts moaning about garages The old mans garage Petrol accounts for 55% of the turnover but just 6% of the profit which in any other market means it would get scrapped Quote
BLOGGY S7 Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Its the government that rob us blind. Its just not right, any other country would kick off, but here we just carry on paying it. Untill everybody unites it will continue. Easy said than done mind. This country will end up ruined if it continues the way its going, we will just be a nation of shopkeepers. As we no longer produce anything worth while. Don't get me started Quote
a4drk Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Some of the garages are losing 7 or 8p a litre because their pumps are too old & can only take a maximum of 99.9p !! HA...! Quote
Blatman Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 My local Tesco's had a new 99 octane unleaded at 94p this morning. I'm gonna try to find out if it's any good... Quote
Martin Keene Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 A guy on the Skoda forum had a Jabbasport remap of an Octavia whilst running that and it came out a 240, 15 higher than normal... Jabbasport are investigating whether it was a particulary fit engine or rocket fuel! Quote
SADDLEWORTH Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Just come back from a run out and had to pay 99.9 for optimax Quote
windy Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 And the sooner we start the farmers producing ethanol from wood & straw here in the UK the better. Give the fuel companies some competition & they will soon drop their prices. They sell E85 in the states, it's a blend of 15% gasoline, 85% ethanol. Its is also close to rocket fuel than optimax at over 100 octane - cant wait to use it in the rally car. It smells nice too - exhausts fumes will smell a bit like a bar at a british pub. Quote

Arm Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 See you've now gone and got me going....we are being ripped off by the government and to a lesser amount the petrol companies. Whilst I dont mind paying a fair amount of fuel tax I expect it to be used for the purpose from which it was taken and that means road improvements, congestion reduction, improvements to public transport etc. I dont believe it is and I dont believe they are able to account for where the money goes. So where does it stop, its got nothing to do with reducing emissions or reducing congestion but it is a revenue stream they cannot do without. So when it becomes too expensive to drive to work and car usage subsides where will they take the money from and what will the p*** poor excuse be. Look at the sales of diesels - I bet the government is finding reduced fuel consumption due to the explosion in diesel car sales no good to them at all and are trying to hatch a plan to charge us a tax because the fuel is black or smelly or slippy on roundabouts. Ripped off and we are doing nothing about it. Quote
