Chasmon Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Thanks for the link. Am I right to assume that I can get and age related plate with a Sierra box, Diff and Lobros and then everything else sourced from elsewhere? Just found a Cosworth diff from a 92 granada for £85 will this be type B? seems cheap as it comes with 4 month guarantee. Will the gearbox be suitable? Hopefully if it is a 3.62 I'll pick it up today. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 As i read it if you wanted an age related plate, then unless buying everything new, the section that applies to yu would be: In order to retain the original registration mark Cars and Car-Derived Vans must use: The original unmodified chassis or unaltered bodyshell (i.e. body and chassis as one unit - monocoque); or A new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original supported by evidence from the dealer/manufacturer (e.g. receipt) And two other major components from the original vehicle - see list below * Suspension (front & back) * Axles (both) * Transmission * Steering Assembly * Engine If a second-hand chassis/monocoque bodyshell is used, the vehicle must pass a ESVA/SVA test after which a "Q" prefix registration number will be allocated. The key bit I guess would be prooving that the two key bits came from the same car. I believe the standard approach is to get a Sierra donor car, "change" the engine to a Zetec, or whatwever, get the V5 updated with the new engine number, and then use the V5 to get an age plate of the same year as the Sierra donor.
