Jam Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Could be off to work in Guernsey for a few months and i'll need my westy fix while i'm out there. Any fellow Westy owners out there? Jamie. Quote
KerryS Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 With a 40mph blanket limit, it seems hardly worth it Or isthis universally ignored? Kerry S Quote
peterg Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 With a 40mph blanket limit, it seems hardly worth it doesn't stop people owning Ferrari F40s and the like on there, I guess if you can afford them why not Quote
Tubs Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 40 mph is for Jersey, in Donkey land you'll only get to do 35 - and most of that is on the pavement. It's called the Guernsey hop, the roads are so narrow you need to go onto the pavements to pass oncoming traffic. Still, there are some fast machines in Jersey, which is much sunnier. Quote
KerryS Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Having been to both, I definitely preferred Guernsey, even at 35mph (I stand corrected). Kerry S Quote
KerryS Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Just spoken to my mate who is from Guernsey. he says there are definitely 7-alike cars there, also there's a hill climb coming up Val de Terres (? spelling? ) or something like that quite soon with lots of sporty motors. Kerry S Quote
Tubs Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Preferred Guernsey!! You'll be saying Cateringvans are better than Westies next Both Islands have regular sprint and hill climb meets, and there is good competition between the two Islands. I'm not sure about them Donkeys, but a lot of the Jersey drivers enjoy track weekends in France. I'm looking forward to attending a few myself next year when cash and holidays permit. Tubs Quote
Jam Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 Just had a look on the inter'web and there looks like some good Hill Climbs and Sand Racing. Now there's a thought. not sure i'd want to get my westy full of sand though. Quote
KerryS Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 You'll be saying Cateringvans are better than Westies next Don't, just don't! This issue generated the fastest growing thread in a while over the last two days I certainly sensed the inter-island thing when I was there. Dunno why I have the preference, we just enjoyed ourselves more on the G-island than the J-island Kerry S Quote
