mars0505 Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 How quick you can buy a Westy in England, the slower goes the registration. 10 days ago I went to the dutch SVA inspection. I took care that everything was okay, and checked it twice. Repaired several things. Took me almost 3 days to fix everything. The inspection was going also smoothly and everything was okay. Only problem was the emission system, that wasn't there. No approval. But there is Mark from Westfield Sportscar, who provided a statement that the car in England was approved without a emission system. TOP TOP Today went back and passed the RDW (read SVA) test. Afther paying some extra tax at the customsoffice, I passed. In 4 days I get my registrationdocuments and I can legally drive around. Thanks everyone, and especially the Westfield sportscar LTD, who where very kindly and helpfull. Marcel. Quote
KerryS Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Well done! How many Westys are there in Holland now then? Kerry S Quote
mars0505 Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 Kerry I don't know exactly, but I'm thinking between 50 and 100 westfield cars. The dutch Kitcarclub has around 160 members, which a minor part is driving a westy. Than there is the Dutch super sevenclub, mixing Donky's Caterhams and other sevens. So They are still very rare, and iff you stop somewhere there is always someone taking pics etc. Marcel. Quote
neilwillis Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Time for some fun then. Have you managed to stop grinning yet? Well worth the hassle isn't it Quote
KerryS Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Thought we may take a summer holiday in Holland sometime on the basis it must be deserted, all the camp sites in France are full of Dutch I we do, I'll need to find out where Dutch Westys are Kerry S Quote

KerryS Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 When's the Dutch HillClimb championship then Maybe only dykes do it Kerry S Quote
Guest Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 When's the Dutch HillClimb championship then It is an ongoing event, held in Amsterdam using the roads along the canals. Instead of a single climb, they calculate the aggregate elevation of the bridges and the speed bumps (of which there are many). The added thrill is that the speed bumps are particularly unfriendly to Westfields and require either a minimum speed of around 30 mph to clear, or the use of the tram track slalom to avoid. Having had mine over here for a couple of months, I fitted a shield to the gearbox hoop, having accepted that it would keep scraping. The stainless steel bolts wore through inside three weeks and it made a heck of a noise with one end dragging on the cobbles, just as I was passing the local Politie. Papers please!........ Good place though - has anyone done a track day at Zandvoort? Quote
mars0505 Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 JD where about are you in Holland? Im in the east at the german border. Overhere every hill fits under the Westy; but overhere the majority of the roads are surrounded by hughe oak trees, so that's giving an other dimension. Marcel Quote
Guest Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I work in Amsterdam (Amstelveen) Monday through Friday. Usually in UK for weekends but my wife comes over here every 5 to 6 weeks. I bring the Westy over periodically, especially if I can arrange some sort of trip or other event. Otherwise it lives in UK for track days etc. Is there a Dutch forum that would give events for 7 type cars in NL? Quote
mars0505 Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 Yep,There are two clubs for sevens www.kitcarclub.nl which is open for all kitcars but the majority is driving an seven or Westfield. They have several track and racetrackdays. Sunday 20th in a week there is a trackday on a military airstrip in Deelen. In september is a clubday for several clubs on racecirciut of Zandvoort. www.sevenclub.nl which are more for Donky's and caterham drivers. http://kitcars.pagina.nl/ is a good start for linking to several sites over kitcars.
