I'm about to buy a new set of wheels & I'm seriously contemplating changing from 7x15's to 7x13 superlights (Minilight replicas) They work out at around £450 including rubber! I can sell my 15's for about £200 on e-bay or similar.

How will 13's affect my acceleration & top speed? Will they fit over callipers? I know they're gonna look better, Do you think it's a good desicion?

Depends on the calipers you have on your car...

Yes 13" rims are a good thing. It does limit your tyre choice slightly though.

What is the car used for? It may not be the simple choice you think.

What are you hoping to achieve by swapping? If the reasoning isn't sound, then you may end up being dissappointed...

I want a bit more bottom end acceleration (I'm not fussed if I lose 10/20mph on my top speed) & I think they look better. Are they good enough reasons?

The car's only used for Sunday/nice evening countryside blats.

No, and yes... Acceleration won't improve by very much, if at all. You'll need to be looking at a stop watch to prove it's going faster 'cos you won't feel it. If you want to make an *obvious* difference to the way the car gathers pace, I'd put the money towards a differently ratio'd gearbox, assuming you have a standard ratio 'box now.

Fair enough though if you like the look and want to swap because of that...

I'd go for 13" rims and AO48 or Toyo 888.

I had 15" rims on mine up to Jan this year, I'm much happier with the 13".

Changing has transformed the car, I prefer the feel and have far more confidence to push on.

Mine is used for road mostly with a few track days thrown in the mix and the AO48's are wearing well.

Chaz.

The increased sidewall depth will change your ride and handling(tyre dependant) a little but if the rolling radius does not change then acceleration and top end will not change appreciably. Don't forget that if you do go for a change in the rolling radius the speedo will not be correctly calibrated!!!
