Renmure Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 As part of the 'background research' .. as anyone owned or had 1st (or 2nd) hand experience of the Ultima cars? SWMBO and myself saw some in the flesh down at Stonleigh this year and were 'impressed' by how wowish they looked. Same thing goes for some that we have seen at local car shows. This was confirmed recently at a trackday at Knockhill last week where there were a couple of them doing their thing on track and looked even more wowish on the move. The pics from the other thread on the Ultima Open Day add to the pressure fo find out more. Neither of us are mechanically minded so self build is not a consideration and the car-fund pot is not unlimited so pre-owned would be most likely. I do appreciate that like westies there will be lots of variation between individual cars but in 'general terms' .... any experience? Jim Quote
Martin Keene Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 If your really set on the GTR instead of the Can-Am, then make sure you get one with air-con, or you *will* fry inside... Quote
pistonbroke Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 I once lent one ................. Sorry I meant Lent on one ! Quote
Mark Stanton Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Calling Chris Varey Chris used to own a dark Blue Can-am and competed in it with the Speed Series a few years back before he ventured into circuit racing An absolutely awesome car he often drove it to and from events as well rain or sunshine Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 This ones for sale - although its a Can Am This one actually is for sale - I have the number of the guy selling it if you want. He completed it 2 years ago, its pretty clean although he scratched the front that morning and I am not convinced about his solution around the airbox aperture in the engine cover. He is selling it to fund a business expansion (he says) I am sure though if you call him he would be gald to discuss Ultima ownership. SB Quote
a4drk Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 I was speaking to one of the Ultima owners at the Hot Marques night at Knockhill - Beg of June. It was 6 til 8pm, a 2 hour session.... At 7.30pm, i saw the bloke loading his 6.odd V8 onto his car trailer... game over for the night.... I asked why he was finishing early...... he replied... "My neck is too sore, with the acceleration" Quote

Numptie Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Jim, I see you're from Arbroath. One of the three (to my knowledge) GTR's in Scotland is in Arbroath. I half know the owner and could put you in touch if you want. Details here Cheers, N Quote
Renmure Posted August 11, 2005 Author Posted August 11, 2005 Jim, I see you're from Arbroath. One of the three (to my knowledge) GTR's in Scotland is in Arbroath. I half know the owner and could put you in touch if you want. That would be fantastic!!! Arbroath is a little place and, despite living only 8 miles out of town I have never seen one in the area. There is an email link in the Pistonheads info and I am happy to drop an email, but if you have a more personal way of intro then that would be even better. Thanks Jim (Smiling Broadly Faction) Quote
