Guest Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Paul .also mention how much it costs , so people can see you really get what you pay for , i'm fed up with people saying you can get a decent exhaust for £2.50 in aldi when we know a decent silencer costs a reasonable sum and about the same as a decent manifold. scott beeland Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Ah but you don't have to spend mega bucks either. Simpson systems look to be very good; but so is the stuff coming out of JP in Macclesfield. Regardless of the pile of pound coins paid; what you REALLY want is an exhaust builder that actually knows his craft and science Quote
Guest Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 that i agree with , and every good one i have come across + everyone who i actually know ,has paid around the same ....... and all the cheap systems i have seen have been LOUD Quote
Westfieldman Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 My Simpson race exhaust manifold was £750 cash SBD Ti Can £302 plus vat Quote
Paul Ash Posted July 26, 2005 Author Posted July 26, 2005 SBD Complete system was quoted at £891 + VAT However I was unable to use their system as extra bracing through chassis and the fact the engine is shoved right back means I couldn't get it out on a low exit. Hence why I went bonnet exit. Simpson system cost £800 + VAT (inc Silencer) JP quoted £550 + VAT, but by the time I had factored in 2 trips to Macclesfield, fuel cost, trailer hire etc it wasn't worth it. Much easier and convenient to go to someone local. Also If I have any issues their just up the road. Looking at the quality of the work and watching them put it together (whilst finishing off) They take a lot of pride in what they produce Quote
scott beeland Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 My JP bonnet exit system (the whole system) in SS with repack silencer was under £600 Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 The torque of the engine will cause the manifold to rise not fall so you may need to take a little out of the bonnet. Still look b***dy nice work though. Quote
Paul Ash Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 No I dont (good thought though, wallett venturing out of pocket again! Got a real red/black/chrome thing going on Quote
Paul Ash Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 OK where do the chrome covers come from then!! I must resist I must resist I must resist Bling Quote
Guest Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 For those starting a new build, LED repeaters in the wing mirrors looks a good move. Wiring would perhaps be a bit of hassle though. John Quote
Lurksalot Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 never mind "blinkers" looks more like " blingers" to me Quote
