steve wilson Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Ive just put up a nice new 6ft fence round my garden. The pidgoens and other birds are allways sitting on it which i dont mind but they use it as a toilet. Has anyone got any ideas what i could put along the top of it to stop them from landing on it? I was thinking of something like plastic bristles but i cant think of where to buy it. I no its a sad topic but its doing my head in and ive just built a hardwood deck next to it so i dont want it plastering with bird sxxt. Quote

Toby Mack Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 6" nail in the top of each fence post and some strong cotton or thin wire between the heads (ie about 3" above fence). Makes it damn hard for them to land without getting caught up and not very visible. Quote
a4gom Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 set traps for the neighbours cats, then tie them up in your garden, they will stop the birds, if they don't catch them they will probably die but IMO thats not a bad thing. If you want some replacements there are plenty that sh*t in my garden and p*ss allover my cars and in my garage if I leave the door open that i'd be happy to post to you. Quote

Liam Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I think you can get some plastic spiky security stuff like gripparod for the top of fences(you could try gripparod but if a potential villain injures themselves climbing over it will be your fault in our present cockeyed society!. Try your local security supplier. Or, a layer of hub bearing grease along the top of the fence - they won't like that. Quote
brianm Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 2 nails nocked into ether end of the fence then string 12lb or so b/s fishing line across in a double run about 2" apart. Guaranteed to stop em and not dangerous or really visible B. Quote
