Pingu Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Hello all, Does anyone know if the RS2000 alloy sump provides enough floor clearance or is the Westfield expensive jobbie a must? (I'm not keen on shortening the original one) If so does anyone have a spare...otherwise its off to feebay.con . Thanks Pingu Quote
nigelh Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Had this dilema when I built mine. Can't remember exactly what put me off the RS2000 option but I ended up buying the W/F version as I was getting 10% off everything at the time. Reason may have been that there was little to be gained clearance wise but can't be positive...sorry Quote
wookie Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Got RS2000 sump & bellhousing on mine, is a little lower that a cut down one but only by 10mm or so. Quote
LiamR Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Just been looking at ebay, and there is a sump going soon. Was thinking of it myself, but not just yet! Sorry no link, as I have just closed the page. Seems to be a fair bit of interest though. Quote
Enterpryse Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 I use a shortened sump from Yukspeed; The Old Spitalbeck, Barton Hill Nr. Whitwell on the Hill North Yorkshire YO60 7JX United Kingdom +44 (1653) 68540 Quote
Pingu Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 Thanks all. Will price up from Yukspeed - does it include pick up pipe modification? Liam - I had spied that one too - hence needing quick decision, but there always seems to be on for sale. Wookie - is your sump lower than the "hoop" thing at the front of the tunnel? If not then its probably enough... P Quote
Enterpryse Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 My Yukspeed sump cost about £75-90 from memory with the modified pickup Quote
Liam Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Try Paul Townsin E-mail Address(es): paul@townsin.com He is a Luego owner in Peterborough and makes shortened sumps for Pintos Quote
langy Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Try Paul TownsinE-mail Address(es): paul@townsin.com He is a Luego owner in Peterborough and makes shortened sumps for Pintos I have one of paul's sumps (£50 exchange IIRC), good quality welding and gives you an extra 1 1/2" clearance Quote
predawson Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I have the RS2000 alloy sump and have never hit the ground. Used to have the standard sump but bashed it every time I took the car out. The RS sump only gives 10-15mm extra clearance but seems to have been enough to have made all the difference. Quote
