Mark B Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Thought I'd put an ad up on here as a few people seemed to like the car after I posted some pics earlier in the year. My friend Steve has had his series 1 escort rs turbo for just over 3 years now, but after being out in mine etc has now decided that he would like to join us in the ranks of westfield ownership, therefore the series 1 is up for sale. It's a 1985 B registered series 1 custom in diamond white, totally standard apart from a stainless steel exhaust, 89k, hpi clear, never been bumped or abused, summer use only, always garaged & always owned by mature rs owners club members and has undergone a FULL nut and bolt concours restoration which took us 2.5 years to complete. The shell has been taken back to bare metal, various panels (usual wings etc) replaced with genuine ford items, new genuine ford lights all round, window rubbers etc etc, everything that could be replaced with new has been, the rest has been refurbished to concours standard. The floorpan, wheelarches etc are painted, all underside components refurbished or new, the engine bay and all it's components are in as new concours condition, the interior is A1 with no cracks in the dashboard (a rarity in itself), no worn side bolsters or rips etc, new seat foams, new door cards fitted, original radio. All original handbooks are present, a massive portfolio of reciepts, mot's everything is there. The car looks literally like new, drives like new with all new brakes, suspension etc and has a comprehensive package of spares and memorabilia for the right buyer, the selling price is far less than it has actually cost to get to this condition, so if you want a car that you can show or simply a mint example to use, this is the one you want. Many of our local members have seen the car at the Cheshire meet (Kirk in particular) & can vouch for it's condition. A couple of pics can be seen here- http://bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk/showthread.php?t=75825 And here's one from earlier this year round Buxton- The price- £5995 ono Contact Steve on 07973 261219 or e-mail him on imsltdsteve@aol.com or e-mail/ PM me for further details etc. Cheers, Mark.
kik1.6se Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 This is a mint car. Its in better condition than when it left the factory. I'll have to tell Eddy that he is selling it. He may even be interested as he was having trouble with his, last time i spoke to him, although I think it would be out of his price range. Kirk
Mark B Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 Thanks Kirk, Let me know if he is interested, there is some negotiation to be made with respect to parts etc, Steve has spent over £500 on rare posters, books, prints etc. You keeping your westy now? Cheers, Mark.

Cheers, Mark. I've decided to keep it. It'll have 150bhp soon, as I brought Mark Stantons old CVH yesterday (thanks Mark ) and i've been making a few changes to the car recently, so its getting closer to how i want it. Kirk
Mark B Posted July 19, 2005 Author Posted July 19, 2005 Excellent, glad to hear you've made your mind up now, it'd be like losing an arm selling it!
sedsy Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Just as a matter of interest what is the spec and performance figs on these cars?
Barry Ashcroft Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Quick for 1985 but a bogstandard mondeo nowadays has more horses. When you think the sierra cosworth was the dogs with only 205bhp seems pathetic in todays times!! Barry Ps not knocking the car if I had the room I would buy it for certain as I always wanted a tidy mark 111
Mark B Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 Standard spec (as this one is) 132BHP, 0-60 in just under 8 seconds, top speed 125 MPH, still no slouch but as you say many standard cars have that kind of power (or more) these days. The potential of this era of car (if that's what you want) is far more though & it can be chipped to 185 easily and way beyond with more money. I had many series ones myself one of which had over 250BHP, that was great fun but I'd rather have a standard one if I was buying one today. We were going to chip it at one point but I must say I'm glad that Steve changed his mind as I think it's much nicer having it standard, you know exactly what you're getting then. This car has only done a couple of hundred miles since being restored and has been treated like a baby since new, I will be sorry to see it go aswell as Steve, we've both spent hundreds of hours on it. Cheers, Mark.
Karl Woolf Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Having seen the car it truly is a minter and an unbelievable amount of work gone into to it to get it to that condition. It would cost double that price if you paid a renovation company to half the work its been through. Glad he`s seen the light though
