Chris Elworthy Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Just finally given up trying to make sense of Nero = I'm scrapping more discs than I'm writing Can anyone recommend CD Burning Software for the over 40s Quote
adhawkins Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Ah, was gonna suggest Nero when I saw the title. What problem are you having? Andy Quote
Mark Stanton Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Roxio Easy CD Creator might be worth a try Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted July 17, 2005 Author Posted July 17, 2005 Ah, was gonna suggest Nero when I saw the title. What problem are you having? Andy I am certain I am following all of the correct steps. The main problem is with ; a) Photos - 50% of time open as unreadbale files not jpgs which they are dragged over as b) Music (legally) downloaded - ends up as a folder that a CD player can't open instead of individual tracks - I am not doing anything different each time Cheers Chris Quote
mud Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 chris for burning music i use iTunes its dead simple, very quick and free.google for iTunes and download the xp version.to use it just open a new file and drag and drop the songs you want to burn onto it .insert disc and press burn in the top righthand corner, job done.if you want to copy an album just import it onto iTunes and burn it the same way.dead easy Quote
Boomy Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 In nero are you using the wizard? I don't use the wizard myself but it may help.To make an audio cd i simply select the "make audio cd" option and drag the songs in to the window, then hit burn.Never failed yet. For things like pictures, i guess it depends what you are trying to do.If i wanted to just add pictures or say a mixed backup disc (mp3's, txt's, pics etc etc) i just select the "make data disc" option and drag in what i like then burn. What media are you using by the way and what cd/dvd writer? Quote
pistonbroke Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I thought It was only me having trouble with Nero . Seems there are different versions freeware ? or payed up front jobbies ? The Nero I got with my DVD RW is next to useless afaics Theres an option to upgrade for x pounds but I wouldn't be happy if I spent good money on what I see is a chronically sick programme . I wanted to save loads of jpeg pics but couldnt get the thing to write as the files are Too Big ? yet the files are well inside CD rom memory sizes And I get even less success with video files , I have been blaming it all on "operator error" and am awaiting devine intervention from above . I thought Nero was supposed to be the dogs goonads yours disillusioned Quote
Boomy Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I'm happy to send out the version i have on CD to anyone if it helps.Never had a problem with it, just PM me an address. Quote
Blatman Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I find Nero burns OK, but opening files on a CDRW can be problematic. CDR's seem to work fine though. For instance, if I burn a CDRW with some pictures, the CD drives at work (Win2000) can't open them. The disc looks blank in Windows explorer. Same deal goes for getting prints done at Jessops/Boots/Tescos. CDRW's don't work, CDR's are fine... Quote
Blackdog Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Any version of Nero other than 6.0 onwards, struggles under XP home or Pro. Can't find any driver upgrades either Quote

PeterOz Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Toast - makes CD burning a breeze but you'll need a proper computer to use it although same people make Easy Media Creator for those funny old PC things, so probably works as well Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 Toast sounds good - I burn toast every time. Thanks for all of the advice - I'll let yous know how I get on Quote
