Someone explain the different models please

After 2 kind gents let me sit in their narrow body and wide body variants at the Derby/Notts meet, I now know that my a^$e is definately not 'narrow bodied' and is still probably a little bigger than 'wide bodied'. If I'm after a wide bodied westfield, is it as simple as making sure any advertised car I look at is not a 'pre-lit' model and does have a 'W' in its description?

Cheers,

Dave

Not necessarily. Now that all cars are wide bodies, I think the factory have dropped the 'W' designation.

All wide bodies has a "scallop" at shoulder level taken out of the tub on either side. Also the rear lights have a slight reces into the tub.

Pre lits are very early, and have flat shouldered rear arches.

Good luck,

Er, not quite... detachable rear arch bodywork doesn't have the recesses for the lights. The recess for the lights only appears on wide body fixed arch cars...

Important lesson here.....

Normally when asked this I just say about the scallops, as I have never noticed the rear light recesses before. However I always see them mentioned in responce to this question, so I thought sod it i'll cover both.

Clearly if you don't know what you're talking about you should be quiet. :arse:  But next time...........I'm ready with the definative answer. :t-up:

Next time is easy, you just say "it's been covered before, do a search..."  :p
