grs
If I have a collapsible steering wheel boss do I still need a collapsible column?
jeff oakley
No if you use the Westfield bits the column is designed to move over n an accident ie it doesn't spear you and the wheel hub is collapsable so no problem there.
grs
My car is quite old though approx 89. The guide tube that the steering column goes through is welded at the chassis/bulkhead and also on the dashboard frame. It doesn't look like it would have much give in an accident. jeff oakley
Ah I take it you have not got it throught the SVA yet then. I haven't seen the type you are describing if you have any pictures send me a copy and I will have a look. You could ring the factory they might be able to advise.
