Poz Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 SteveRST - So what did you reckon to Prague? Where did you get to? Poz Quote
Mark Stanton Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Prague very very nice city A place Martin Keene needs to consider over Dublin Budapest is top place as well - particularly in warm summer months Quote
DickieB Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Prague is very stag and hen night friendly - nightclubs are quite happy letting in large groups of drunk dressed up Brits! Quote
SteveRST Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Prague!! What a good time! Do not read if easily offended though. Some of this is not for Kids. Well, here we go..... There are two main attributes to this city that I just could not believe; the women and the beer. If you like either, or better still both, then read on.... The beer was cheap. No doubt about that. The most popular beer was called Pilsner Urquell. This is a lager beer served by the half litre. It is very gassy though, and too be honest I didn't think all that much of it. You do get a massive head on your beer. That’s how they serve it, but I couldn't really get use to that here though. I could get used to the prices though! We quite often found it for about 35 Koruna (about 75p) and you can get a beer in KFC for 75p. Even just off the main street (Wenceslas Square) we found a nice little bar serving 3 different beers for 26 Koruna (58p). The cheapest I saw was 17.5 Koruna (about 39p a pint) but this was way out of town when we got on the wrong tram one afternoon. If beer is not your thing, then a vodka & coke or whiskey & coke is about £1.30 in the cheapest bars. 50ml measure though. The women are simply stunning. They really are incredible. Walking round the streets or shopping centre, you cannot fail to be impressed by how beautiful Czech girls are. If an average English girls a 6/10 then all the girls in Prague are 9/10. The old town and Castle is very interesting. Yes, the architecture in Old Town Square is hugely impressive. And the Castle Cathedral reminded me of the incredible gothic looking towers in Lord of The Rings. Cool stuff indeed. The nightlife in Prague is actually available all day if you want it. The clubs were open till 5 or 6, and then you could go to another club that was open till 11 a.m. I didn't need that one though, and generally was out till 4 - 5. I went to a club called VOLKA CLUB which was right next to the Charles Bridge. Poz - I think you mentioned this one. It was good, in fact we went there twice. It has a cool outdoor terrace looking over the river and towards the castle, underground room which is U/V'd and luminous deco, cheesyish room and another bar/seating area. So, you have about 4 places/rooms to choose from. Next door to this was another club which had 5 levels apparently, but never went in this one. Another club we went to was taxi ride out of town. More of a locals place. Can't remember the name but we only went there 'cos we wanted somewhere really cheap. Beer was 30 Koruna (65p) and music was good but it was a bit dark, dingy and probably not a tourist place really. One place I did enjoy was ROCKY O'REILLY's Irish bar. Just off Wenceslas Square. Had an absolutely splendid afternoon in here (when the Cricket was on in fact). Yes, it was cheesy and absolutely full of Brits, but it was such a laugh. Loadsa stag partys in there, but everyone was having such a good time. Singing along to Oasis, cheering on the cricket. Only went in for 1 or 2, and stayed for 5 hrs. And of course they sell Guinness, Kilkenny, Stella, Fosters etc if you've had enough of the local beer. The exotic clubs or titty bars as they are more commonly referred to, are quite had to ignore. You can't walk 20m down the street without being pestered to visit one. So we duly obliged. A few times. The first proper full night out we went to a bar called THE MAGIC CLUB. Went in about 11:30 and the five of us were the only ppl in there!!! Apart from the 9 absolutely drop-dead gorgeous young ladies who were eyeing us up from the far end of the bar. We got a beer (expensive in these places! 150 Koruna (£3.30) but spirits & mixer were even more (about £8). The girls were really friendly and you could have sat there all night and watched the beautiful girls pole dancing just metres away. When one finished, another went up and started her routine. The drinks were starting to look like good value now. I cannot emphasise enough how gorgeous the girls were. All 10/10 easy. Most were from Ukraine/Russia I think. The girls would sit down next to you and talk for a bit then ask if you'd like a private dance. If you didn't they were not pushy. A private dance was 1000 Koruna and an extra 500 K if you wanted to touch. However, if you haggle and charm then [apparently ] you can pay 1000 K inclusive. (about £22). I will say no more about this, what happens on tour, stays on tour. However, our group spent a lot of money this night. Highly recommended. Another night we went to the (infamous) ATLAS CLUB (just opposite the popular Darling Club). 200 K (£4.50) to get in (£4.50), beer £3.60. This place was very different from MAGIC. Its huge. 2 floors. 40 or 50 girls!! And far more on offer than just private dances. The 'menu' offered such things as 'Full Body Massage' and 'Room + Girl 1/2 hour' and that was 2500 (£55) but I dare say you could haggle that down too. I did not fancy that, and in fact none of my friends did. Private dance was usual 1000 K + 500 K but you can haggle it. The girls here were more pushy, less chatty, probably less attractive and less personal. The floor shows were good though. Saw some stuff that cannot be written here, and some stuff that had to be seen to be believed. Floor shows free, so just get a good view. Well, what else. Trams are great. Used them every day. Taxi's good but you can get ripped off. Get a number of a taxi service and call them and they can be with you in minutes and give fair price. I used AAA cabs tel: 14014. top prices and service. Food is good. Had a few Czech meals. They love their meat and seem to disregard veg. Thats how I like it. Breaded Dumplings popular. Proper food, although very stodgy and filling. They love their KFC and McDonalds though. KFC on every corner it seems. Or is that the British influence. Finally, a few car pics from the streets of Prague. There was not much about, but I did spot one se7en!!! dunno what it was though. No name on it. Any ideas? Phew! Cheers, steve Quote
