John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Does anyone know why if I place JPG images onto my webspace why some display in Internet Explorer using a direct URL and some dont display at all? I just get the page cannot be found message. The only difference that I can identify is that the pictures were taken with a different digital camera. The old camera pictures work and 2 newer cameras dont but surely this cant be the reason? Anyone got any ideas? John Quote
studbuckle Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Will the image open with Internet explorer off your local machine? Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted July 5, 2005 Author Posted July 5, 2005 It is case sensitive but I have tried that and had no luck. Yes, it opens in IE on my local m/c. Ones such as this do work and ones such as this dont work John Quote
adhawkins Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 You haven't uploaded the file properly, only explanation. Check the FTP listing of the directory you think the file is in. Post a screenshot of your FTP client showing that directory and file and we'll see what we can see. Could possibly be a permissions issue too. Andy Quote
studbuckle Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I would suggest renaming the file to all lower case and trying again. It's not showing up as westie_... but it might work Quote
adhawkins Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Might be worth getting rid of the '_' too. To start with, post a picture of the FTP client showing the relevant folder first. Andy Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted July 5, 2005 Author Posted July 5, 2005 Renamed file to shorter name (wfront.jpg) and still dont work Im not sure how to post a picture of the FTP client as its not an image on my webspace. I can email if thats any use? For what its worth, the attributes are the same as the images that do display. The FTP client is Cute FTP. John Quote
adhawkins Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Or use the avatar service (follow the link in my sig) Andy Quote
Richgm Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 When you renamed the file did you just rename on-line or did you rename it on your computer and then upload it? Also can you view the pic with IE before you upload it? Edited to say "WOOHOOOO 500 posts" Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted July 5, 2005 Author Posted July 5, 2005 I renamed it on the FTP site and I can view it in IE before uploading. Could the problem be to do with resolution? The ones that work are 1.2 Megapixels and the others are higher resolution I think? Screen shot sent email address quoted Quote
adhawkins Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Can you paste it here using the avatar service? Andy Quote
Richgm Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 John, If you want to email me your image I'll upload it to my webspace as a double check that the image is ok. me@richgm.co.uk Quote
