chrisbin Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Ok, here's today's challenge for the WSCC IT/techy types.... Scenario is as follows: I currently have a Motorola V80 working on Orange. I am about to change to a Nokia 6230i on Vodafone. How do I get my numbers from one phone to the other??? Neither phone will accept the other's SIM as both are locked to their respective networks... Have looked into unlocking but no success yet (apparently you can't do Motorola's anyway..?) V80 doesn't have infra red so can't even try to link by that method... Anyone any suggestions.......other than paying £20 to one of the networks to unlock..... TIA Quote
Blatman Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 There are *plenty* of web sites on the net that will allow you to unlock your phone for free. IIRC, the last one I used was www.unlockme.co.uk As for SIM swap, why not see if somewhere like the Carphone Warehouse or a Vodafone shop can do it for you. I'm sure you're not the first to have this problem... Quote

You are right of course that a shop "should" be able to help......but its the usual scenario of having time/opportunity to call in... Quote
Blatman Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I am bound to say that if a mobile phone plays an important part in your business life, that you have two choices. Either get Vodafone to help out their new customer by not charging him money for a simple unlock code, or you make the time to get to a shop. Oooh, BTW... do both phones have Bluetooth? Can you swap them that way? Quote

CocoPops Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Does the V80 not have a PC suite? Could you not sync the V80 with outlook (thus storing the contacts in outlook), then sync the 6230i using the Nokia suite (deffo available) thus having the contacts in 3 places. Quote

chrisbin Posted July 5, 2005 Author Posted July 5, 2005 Sorted!! The website referred to earlier www.unlockme.co.uk came up trumps!! Can now use phone on any network and, most importantly for me, I've transferred my phone book....of 200 numbers!! Quote
