scott beeland Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 P1 and P2 separated by 0.01 seconds and all sorted out with just 3 laps to go.....Now that's proper formula racing. F1 has so much to learn Quote
pistonbroke Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Sure was close pity they cant turn right There was a time when F1 used to have finishes that close Monza Italian GP 1971 Peter Gethin won by .01 sec from Ronnie Peterson A five car pack at the finish included Mike Hailwood , Francois Cervert, Howden Ganley, where seperated by 0.61 seconds from the leader !!! Closest race finish ever and on a proper road circuit Makes you wonder why its all gone tits up today Quote
DickieB Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 My last race had the top 8 finishing in 5 seconds - and it had been that way for the entire race. Shame they don't televise us, it "might" just bring some motorsport fans back - those who have given up on the awful processions that they currently televise. Quote

Wonder how much more close racing there is in the "lesser" formula . Years back I used to travel everywhere to watch F3 cars race side by side 3 & 4 abreast and the inevitable manouvering for position on the last lap was fabulous to watch It never paid to be in front into that last corner . tactics was everything Quote
Mark Stanton Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Wonder how much more close racing there is in the "lesser" formula . Lots - get yourself along to a 750MC meeting the racing is usually very entertaining Quote

From first hand experience (usually because im doing the racing) that it gets VERY close. There is almost always a fight to watch all the way through the field of racers from flag to flag Quote
Richgm Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Sure was close pity they cant turn right Ralf Schumacher has the same problem as that at Indianapolis Quote

I saw the hero Rindt pinch the race on the last corner , felt sorry for Blackjack, his breaks faded when he needed them most , due only to the pressure of Jochen driving the pants off the Lotus. Similar story at british GP same year, that time Brabham ran out of gas and Rindt stole the prize again ! Was trajic at Monza, poor Jochen, never forget him he was one of the best link here Quote
