GWatson Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Quick one... How do I go about replacing the SVA certificate. I didn't receive it from the previous owner and one of the guys interested in the car is asking for it. Do they take it away when the car is registered? I would appreciate a quick response. ROC Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Graeme, Yes they take it from you when the car is registered. Cheers, Rich. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 I was quite dissapointed after all that work; only had mine for 15 minutes before the nice lady at the DVLA offices relieved me of it. Quote
perksy Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Have Photcopy of mine, amongst all the other Receipts Quote
Chris.B Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Do they take it away when the car is registered? I would appreciate a quick response. Yes they take it from you as part of the registration process. I made a colour photocopy of mine just in case .... Quote
KerryS Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Both the VOSA guy and the DVLA lady gave me photocopies of all my documents without asking. Kerry S Quote
GWatson Posted June 28, 2005 Author Posted June 28, 2005 hmm.... the guy would need it to import his car into Jersey, otherwise would have to put his car through a £400 test. G Quote
GWatson Posted June 29, 2005 Author Posted June 29, 2005 How difficult can it be..... Called DVLA - You need to speak to the Vehicle Certification Agency Call VCA - You need to speak to the SVA Call SVA - Sorry we can't help you, we don't have a record of the certificate. You will need to contact the testing station which it was done at. I didn't SVA the car and I am not sure where it was done and no one can help me........... Quote
Mike H Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 But if it's a kit car registered after about mid 2000 it will have had an SVA test simple as that - regardless of whether you have the certificate registration is proof isn't it? There was a grace period when the test came in to cater for people 'mid build' but that ran out some time around then. Mike Quote
GWatson Posted June 29, 2005 Author Posted June 29, 2005 Mike, I am not doubting it has been SVA'd as it was registered in July 2003. However, the potential new owner needs to import it to Jersey and have it registered locally. To do this he needs the SVA and other documents otherwise he has to put it through another test which costs around £400. I am just trying to save him money and grief. Graeme. Quote
perksy Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Graeme Was Previous owner the Builder If he was, find out where it was SVA'd and Date, Phone Testing station and they should have a copy of the Test details on their system. If He wasn't the Builder, see if He has the Builders details and 'go from there'. HTH. Quote
pistonbroke Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Wonder why sva dont have a central data base ? have you spoke to ANY sva station ? perhaps they can check with other stations, there can't be that many to check on How many SVA stations are there anyway ? just had a butchers some of these might be worth a phone call sva bottom of page here Quote
GWatson Posted June 29, 2005 Author Posted June 29, 2005 Sorted now.... went home at lunchtime and found the letter from the SVA detailing the appointment with the prvious owner. They have asked me to send a cheque for £10. G Quote
Mike H Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Very odd, I was just thinking that because it was registered in 2003 it therefore has been SVA'd and he shouldn't really need any other proof. Maybe Jersey just don't know the rules on registration & SVA in the UK Mike Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Well I must be the exception to the rule cos' I've still got mine, they had a quick look at it at registration, didnt look at any receipts, just took the form away and came back with the reg No, dead easy really Quote
