grs
does anyone know why this frame is behind the seats with an earth strap connected to the chassis and a wire going up to the engine? It looks like someone planned to mount the battery here, is this normal or is it for something else? photo

Flat Eric
Spooky I have just posted a question about Batteries - had not noticed this thread. Your picture shows roughly what I am intending to do. ie mount it on rear bulk head, between bulk head and bootbox. Reason Move more weight to rear of car Clear some space in engine bay (V8) Main concerns maintainance of battery (red top 25) Will there be any loss off effective battery power due to length of battery cable. Big R
Hi FE Can’t answer on the maintenance of the battery, but you will get a higher voltage drop on the longer cable. Easiest way to resolve is to choose a bigger dia cable - problem solved.
injidup
That looks like an Ozzie Westfield... The UK ones don't have that diff cover - it was made in Perth to accept an Escort diff... Best to sell it and buy a nice new imported 'real' Westfield Kev.

Cradle doesn't look big enough for a lead-acid battery, maybe a gel one? Kerry S

Buzz Billsberry
Main concernsmaintainance of battery (red top 25) Will there be any loss off effective battery power due to length of battery cable. It will be fine in this postion I run a 25 in my V8 on rear bulk head and have had no probs after 12,000 miles(18months) not even last winter I'd left the battery connected from sept to feb an it started the engine first time with plenty of power. Its a factory built car and this is how they come out of the factory but with a standard lead/acid battery all be it a tiny one. Seen plenty off them on older live axle diffs before westfield went independant and put the serria etc diff in. Paul at Plays-Kool has a had few cars in over the last couple of weeks so I it want be an Ozzi car I shouldn't think
