Ted
I have just received a new inertia reel seat belt from Westfield but the webbing is fully retracted and won't release. Is there a way to release it so I can use the belt or should I return it to them and obtain a replacement? Thanks TED
pistonbroke
Think you need to pull it out slowly with the coil in the correct orientation ( the position it would be in the car ) as the inertia bit is a wieghted cam working on gravity centrigugal force . Otherwise ring the factory they should help you HTH
al4carol48
Ted, I hope they haven't given you the reel I sent back a few weeks ago! A brand new reel shouldn't be fully retracted but instead the webbing should be folded up and secured to stop it fully retracting. Both the reels I had got stuck. I got harnesses instead as I couldn't be arsed, they're a lot easier to fit!
Ted
Spoke to Mark, no joy releasing it so took it back and got a new one with webbing folded neatly, in and all sorted. TED
