Jam Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Hello, anyone got a screen for a wide body car? Got a chip in mine after a scooby spun into the gravel and then decided to off load the contents of his tyre tread in the direction of my face. MOT is only a few weeks off so it's pretty desperate now. Cheers, Jamie.
taffy Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Hi, You can get replacement from normal windscreen repair outlets. I think I paid about £60.00 for mine. If you are near Lichfield I can give you the name of the guy who did mine. Cos its flat glass, the people who do plant screen repairs are a good starting point. Rob
Jam Posted June 18, 2005 Author Posted June 18, 2005 Hi Rob, that would great. I'm only Wolvo' sort of way so not far at all. £60 sounds fair to me. Ta.
pistonbroke Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 How bad is the chip? Are you sure its a fail? Unless its BAD would worth a check before you go the replacement route
Jam Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 Well it's about 15mm diameter and right in the middle of the drivers side of the screen. I could try one of filling kits from halfrauds etc. I used one on my Pug - it didn't work very well but it did at least seal it - it was right at the bottom edge so didn't get picked up on on the MOT. I guess i could drive it down the MOT centre and ask them B4 booking it in.
Nick Brown Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I have a chip in mine, right in the drivers eye view. for the MOT I just lift the screen out and turn it around so that it's on the passenger side. Nick
scruffythefirst Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Your local glass place should be able to cut you a laminated screen of the correct spec. Cost me £8
