i find mixing them with a good tonic helps, none of the cheap tescos ownbrand crap, a proper tonic, something that still has quinine in (surprisingly waitrose comes high on my survey) and they will taste loverly

oioi you are on something arn't you ?

Thanks Phil, I did try it on a hidden area, and it came off with ease, but I bricked it in the end in favour of the bug wash - harder going.

The run was worth it though - outstanding 80 miles of twisty country roads then long straights, might organise a local run there. Hope the tyres grip better once the tar hardens - got quite a build up , will have to recalibrate the speedo :D

I would say definatley NOT

cellulose thinners will dissolve gel coat , might not do any harm on old well cured gel but I would be very wary of long  term effects .

have u tried white spirit ?

whichever you use I would wash off after with plenty of soapy water

Edit to say

Ckikens = quite harmless

male of species loves to show off   :p

thinners wont harm gel coat, if it did you wouldnt be able to repaint a westy..

best thing  for removing tar is......Tar and glue remover or in its cheapest form panel wipe  ... the stuff you use to remove waxes/silcones  before painting... or petrol does the same job...
