Yes, I'm back from hospital. Thanks to all the kind souls that told me a toal knee replacement was one of the most painful operations you can have - you were right, the 3 days on a morphine pump helped though (from what I can remember).

6 wks on crutches now - no westie driving during this marvellous British summer :arse:

Hope you have a speedy recovery paul.

My old man had this done about 10 years ago because of his health they could not risk a general anesthetic so they did it by giving him an epidural he was awake through the whole procedue and although he could feel no pain he could feel the vibration as they sawed through his leg

Glad you're home and (painfully) recovering Paul.  I'm sure you're gonna miss driving the westie this summer - still you could always sit in the passenger seat and let Liz drive!!

And just to make you feel even more p***ed off, Charlie and the rest of 'em are having a great time in Le Mans - swimming in the pool, loads of beers, 30 c of sun and the race to look forward to at the weekend.  What a work shy bunch of sods they are!!!!!!!!

Here's to a speedy recovery and hope to see you at Harrogate.

Can sympathise with you Paul, have had a number of knee ops, the last but one came with 3 months on crutches, complete non weight bearing through the knee.  I think my knee ended up ok but wore my shoulders out :D

What bought your op on, wear and tear or an accident in the past?

Cheers,

Rich.

I was considerate as I did not post this on the original thread before Paul had the op.

Me full of cheer "Not at the moment" considering fire bombing the garage at this precise moment

Roc - you asked what brought it on - accident or injury - well it was a bit of both, 20 yrs ago I smashed my knee by jumping down a flight of steps in Sheffield city centre, running to catch the last bus on a Sat night ( and in finest WSCC Yorkshire area tradition I was pi***d - who says drinkings bad for you). The result was a plateau fracture of the tibia which was pinned and plated together with a bone graft from my hip. Over the next 20 yrs the knee joint has warn away around the metalwork.

Hope recovery progresses as rapidly as possible. All the best
