potster
Can any of you guys help me identify what this part is called? I've just replaced the valve stem oil seals on my car but one of the valves didn't have the highlighted part for the seal to sit on/over. Can I simply buy one and fit with the head in/on the car? Thanks in advance. Stuart
Paul Ash
Basically the item in the circled area is the top end of the valve stem guide and the land is the valve spring seat. I think they are replaceable but probably a job for a press as hammering one in would damage it! Have a chat with Vulcan engineering. it will need a valve stem seal on the one thats missing other wise oil will get into the combustion chamber via the valve stem (lots of white exhaust smoke ) especially as X-flows are renowned for excessive oil. a4gom
Sound to me like this may have been your problem not the seals! Try Burton Power Tel 02085189136 they are a couple of quid on their website I've never put them in though
