Rick S Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Hi y'all. Whilst I wait for broadband to arrive & my new job to start (woohoo! I'm kinda bored & was wondering whether anyone has any recommendations/otherwise for the above? Screenselect does seem to be rather good & I'm a bit loathe to contribute further to Tesco's burgeoning profit "margin" even if I know that the service will be good. Ta Rich Quote

Eddy5 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Had used Lovefilm (No it's not dodgy porn rentals) for a while but their service and range is not great. Just switched to ScreenSelect about 2 months ago and very impressed so far Quote
Blatman Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Er, don't Blockbuster do an internet/postal rental service? And there's definitely a company that do do an internet rental service for DVD's. Google should find them I would think... Quote
karlgurney Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 blockbuster Blockbuster works fine for us, Think its just gone up to £14.99 p/m and you get unlimited dvds, bascially you build up a list of the ones you want and they send them when there availible, they send you 3 dvds and each time you send one back they send the next one from your list out to you, make sure you have at least 20 ones you want on your list. Turn around is pretty quick they email you to let you know there on there way and they normally arive the next day. Karl Quote
BournemouthRoyal Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Hi I actually work for Blockbuster and set up their online rental service last year. You will get new releases quicker with BB because we buy more copies than anyone else (because of our store base). There are also around 25k back catalogue title to choose from. How's that for a plug? Sign up here http://www.blockbuster.co.uk/ Enjoy Quote
Rick S Posted May 25, 2005 Author Posted May 25, 2005 I have too much time on my hands... Can't find a 'special interest' section on either the blockbuster or tesco sites, so that kinda narrows it down! The really groovy thing is that they all seem to have things like Rendezvous & loads of TT videos (the ones that cost 20 quid from Duke) that are essential viewing but a bit too much ££. And mountain biking vids too, like Sprung. Thanks for the opinions people! R Quote
Enterpryse Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I signed up for Screen Select and ditched Sky Movies, which gave me a nice warm feeling inside too. Service so far so good and lots of titles. Quote

Who pays for any of the DVD's that get lost in the post on the way back to Blockbuster? We all know how (un)reliable the postal system in this country is, and I'm kinda curious about this impact on your system. Quote

Rick S Posted May 26, 2005 Author Posted May 26, 2005 From Blockbuster's T&Cs: Care and Ownership - Rental DVDs Lost in the Post You agree to take care of the Rental DVDs and any accompanying packaging and/or documentation they are supplied with, and to maintain all Rental DVDs in good condition. We will remain the owners of the Rental DVDs at all times. Blockbuster will bear the risk of the Rental DVDs being lost in the post once you have posted them back to Us provided that you take care of and return them to Us in accordance with these Terms, and subject to you returning a completed Lost Item Declaration Form available from Customer Services (see ‘Customer Queries’ below). If a Rental DVD you are expecting hasn’t arrived, you will need to let us know as soon as possible. We recommend that you wait at least four (4) days following the day that the Rental DVD is dispatched from our warehouse before assuming that it has been lost however. If it still doesn’t arrive, please see the Why hasn’t my DVD arrived yet? section of our FAQs to report the DVD as being Lost In Post. Quote
Eddy5 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 A film got lost with Lovefilm in Sept 04, I e-mailed them and they said oh well, we'll send the next one out, we'll inform Royal Mail. I got a letter last week from Royal Mail asking if the DVD had turned up. So basically yes, the rental service bears this loss. Which is good. I think there's a maximum number you can lose though of course. Quote
