Guest Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Anybody else been caught out. I was convinced that something was overheating as I could smell glass fibre resin when it gets really hot! Slowed down - no sign of smoke. Looked around and realised I was going past a field of rape seed!! Summer!!! JD Quote
Howard Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Many years ago, Howard and I had a happy holiday touring around France in his Alfa. One sunny day, we became aware of a funny noise in the car. We wound the windows up and could still hear the noise, we wound them down again. Howard tested the brakes, no difference to the noise, Howard weaved the car about the road - nope, not the steering. We stretched our ears out of the windows, but were still baffled. Eventually we pulled over, switched off the engine, and the noise was still going on. That was because itt was all the crickets in the fields either side of us. The reason that the noise had continued despite winding the windows up was that we had neglected to close the sun roof! a4gom Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I know this might be a silly question but is Rape seed the yellow stuff you see in the fields? If so what do they use it for? If not what is the yellow stuff? Quote
leighc Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Yes it is. They use it to make rape seed oil if my memory serves me right. and yes, it stinks. Quote
