jonlewis Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Spent 4 Hours at the Manchester DVLA today... Apparently they want to inspect the car and will phone me in about a week to arrange an inspection in 2-3 weeks... Starting to wish I had bought something else after all. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 How long! Thats crazy, all they do's check the stamped on chassis number and the engine number against the paperwork. It took the woman at Shrewsbury less time to check the numbers that it took me to get the bonnet on and off. Quote
jonlewis Posted May 20, 2005 Author Posted May 20, 2005 Apparently they are busy... Offered to take it down but they have no "facilities" at present to accept inspections at the office. Bit odd cause there was another thread on here the other day where they were not willing to come out and the guy had to take it to them (same DVLA office) This was after waiting 4 hours and filling in two forms they insisted on (in addition to V55 and Cert of New), before finding out that they didnt really need those ! jonlewis Posted May 22, 2005 Author Posted May 22, 2005 Utterly amazing call at 9:30 this morning.... Yes it is a Sunday.... "Hi this is Jean from the DVLA, sorry to phone you on Sunday, can I come and check your chassis number on Thursday morning" Very happy, but gobsmacked. Quote

Eddy5 Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 My Dad went to Chester DVLA (After having been poorly dealt with in Manchester by someone who didn't know the processes) All forms sorted inspection booked for tomorrow. And he can drive the car to the inspection as well !!!!!!!!! Quote
steve_m Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 And he can drive the car to the inspection as well !!!!!!!!! I would doubke check that. Quote
darthurs Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I think the problem at Manchester seems to be that one of the people who usually deals with new registrations has left, so that leaves just the one person to do the lot. This person is called Jean. I went in on Thursday, just before closing filled out the forms, and Jean came out today to inspect my car. Should be on the road on Wednesday. If anyone is going to Manchester then ask for Jean. Dan Quote
