Rob Navin Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 We have just been accepted into the Lombard Revival Rally Details can be seen here. I want to have a chat with some one who has had experience of running a Micra of any type in a rally event to get a feel for what I really need to be doing to get the car to the end of the event. I have read the regs a couple of times and I think I know where I want to be going with it but its always good to check. Any contacts you know and could supply me with a number or e-mail addrress or any web sites you have seen would me great. Thanks Rob ( still on a years break from motorsport honnest ) Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Do a search for someone who posts on here as "sgilkes". I think he has a Micra rally car with a Lotus 907 engine from a Sunbeam Lotus. John Quote

jonny wez Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 I am suprised that you let that one loose on the net Rob. You told me to say you were doing it in a ford motor co sponsered mk2. I will drive faster at caddy,i promise Quote
I.S.M Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 as i said at donington - micra ha micra. Someones nan somewhere must be able to give you a few pointers, is there a "nipping for a blue rinse" stage. Quote
cast iron Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 There is a company that used to run the Micra challenge cars also they developed a seriously quick kit car. I will get the details from work tomorrow and PM or text you Mark Quote
perksy Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Saw Geoff Jones driving a Micra on the Manx Rally (isle of man) a few years ago. bl**** Brilliant to watch, Driving Flat out, Opposite Lock, Wrung the Thing to within an Inch of it's life Quote
windy Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Rob, Get practising with changing driveshafts so that you are competent at doing it at the roadside. A colleague at work did it last year in a corsa & he was changing them a lot - car didn't like the rough stuff. Carry the spares with you in the car but make some brackets to secure them properly in case of a shunt. You'll need some driving lamps, some Turini's with a pencil beam pattern, & some decent fog lamps in case it is murky. Also fit a sump guard. Check the regs for what you can fit. Maybe you should speak to a local Nissan dealer to get a feel for what breaks - someone on warranty should be able to give you an idea. Quote
cast iron Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 " for what breaks! ? for gods sake man its a Nissan Rob - sorry im a bit slow on the Nissan rally car people, every one at work has had a mental block - still working on it Quote
scott beeland Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 If it's a micra....EVERYTHING will break/fall off Quote
cast iron Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 If it's a micra....EVERYTHING will break/fall off Surely you are mistaking them for your cycle wings Quote
scott beeland Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Any of this threebond stuff good for sticking cycle wings to brackets?? I don't wanna drill them....but I don't want the "sikaflex experience" again Quote
Mark B Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Rob, Give EARS Motorsport (escort & rally spares) in Macclesfield a ring, they have done loads with micra rally cars over the years & used to hire them out. http://www.ears.co.uk/motorsport/ HTH, Mark. Quote
