??? if i buy a new one should i try a mount it more upright ???

the brackets on the westy leave it sitting somewhere between 30 and 45 degrees.

i've heard they should be as upright as posible ???

This is quite a common problem with red top pumps.  The same happened with my first one after 400 miles, sent it back to Westfield and they replaced it FOC.  The new one's been fine for the last 4,500 miles, fingers crossed!

Try sending it back, but if you do need a new one I've got a spare that I could let you have for a reasonable price :) PM me if you're interested.

happened to a mate of mine. After replacing the second fuse he noticed smoke from the pump :0

turned out to be the feed wire had worn through and shorted on the case....

Might be worth checking.

got a silver top now :)

5-6psi still enough for the 45s.

did about 20 miles and it was ok so its off to work tomorrow :(

the guy was a webber dealer he said this often happens to red tops and that silvers dont seem to have as much trouble.
