Hi,

I assumed that my non-race National B license would allow me to participate in 'test' days. However, in this thread someone is saying that this isn't the case (you need a race license).

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Depends what you call a test day. I could only see a problem if it was run under an event licence granted by the MSA.

A number of club members have hired Curborough and that could be interpreted as a test day , but generally common sense prevails and there is one car on the track at a time.

If it was a test day for a specific race formula then other rules may apply.

Don't know if thats helped you much?

Not really :)

I was planning on going to Llandow next weekend for a 'test day' (although for other reasons I've now decided not to)...

I guess the only way to be sure would be to ask Llandow what their requirements are.

Probably the best course of action.

Its not a rule I've come across before, however it would stop Max Power types mixing it with serious competitors.

Llandow normally state any MSA licence - but have never checked mine!  But in view of recent events, worth checking with them.

Neil,

You need to check with the organisers, for example Croft's standard form says you must have a Race licence, however a bunch of us did a test day before the Croft Sprint and when I organised this I said we would all only have Sprint licences. I think the lure of money made them OK with this. However I do know other people who tried to get in as only one person and were told they needed a race licence :0  so it does seem very variable.

Also Croft and now being really funny about you doing "trackdays" if you car has race numbers / sticker on it, yet there was a GT class Ferrari at one of the recent ones stickers all over, whilst one of our local guys who races there got turned away on the day because of his stickers /numbers. So as you can see it's very variable.

What I did is talk to the people, get agreement as to what is acceptable and then fax then to confirm your version of what you understand is OK. Then at least if they stop you on the day, you should have some recourse :D

I had this conversation with Mallory about thier Wednesday test sessions - they give priority to race licences but will let Non Race Nat B on but usually not until later in the season when it has quietened down a bit!

That was one of the reasons I upgraded to a Speed Nat A from a Non Race Nat B!
