Tamariki
I want to replace the WF supplied pads in the standard WF front calipers. It's a 1800 module standard Zetec for road use only. I have followed the threads on this, and want to fit Mintex 1144 material or Greenstuff replacements. Can anyone tell me please, the serial numbers I need to order either of these, and where is the best place to get them? Tamariki
Stuart
Greenstuff are DP2291. Here
adhawkins
If it's the standard brake setup, you want pads suitable for a Cortina if memory serves. I got my 1144s from Rally Designs, about 40 quid a set (two wheels). Andy
Tamariki
Thanks guys, which of the two (Greenstaff or Mintex) do you think is best for the road? I live on a steep hill, so first time braking is a must! Tamariki
Blatman
For a road car, either will be just fine.
Pinto Boy
I'm considering making a similar change and first time breaking is my key criteria. I'd be interested to see if you notice the difference once they're fitted.
Blatman
I'm sure you will. Braking will be improved, so it should stop you breaking anything...
adhawkins
My current car has Greenstuff pads on it. Perhaps I'm just being picky, but the first few times you use the brakes tend to be a bit of a heart-stopper occasionally... Andy
Blatman
MY Greenstuffs have always worked well from cold, so I guess YMMV. Of course, there's always Ferodo DS2500's...
Muttley
Glad it's not just me then. The couple of mates cars that I've driven with Greenstuff pads fitted have never inspired me with confidence at all. Quite happy with Mintex 1144's though. I even used 1155's in an Escort RS Turbo that I used to road rally - as good as standard pads when cold (but very squealy), and awesome when hot. Muttley. Stuart
My greenstuffs are fine from cold, too. Wonder why some are and some aren't
scott beeland
I've gone from Greenstuff and M16's which were ok to CAT 4 pots and Mintex 1144's. Not had much opportunity to test yet but JWT seems to think the new set up works well. True test will be at Harewood next weekend
Rob Navin
I run Black Hawk in mine which are great from cold but do tend to affect the wheels more than the others mentioned. It just depends what you want !
Tamariki
Thanks again guys, I'm going to try the Greenstuff DP 2291 just on the front, and I'll report on how I go on. Tamariki
adhawkins
My current car has Greenstuff pads on it. Whoops, it appears I was mistaken. Just reading throught the original 'For Sale' ad for my car, it turns out I have Ferrodo DS2500s all round. Apologies for any confusion.
