PapaLazarou Posted May 9, 2005 Author Posted May 9, 2005 Jeff, the journey was a blast!! I'd meant to call you to let you know let you know all was well. Stopped for petrol in Crook where I got asked if I'd built it and if I'd had it long - 5 minutes!! Then went across the moors to Alston (?) and up to the 69 at Haltwhistle and over to Stranraer VERY early! Off the boat in the dark in Belfast then home to a beer and some after-sun! Had a few days of almost constant rain then but is fine weather now. Just picked up a bl**** bolt through the rear n/s tyre showing off in the yard at work, and cannot find a single yoko A539 in N.I. b*******. Be good, Patrick. Quote
JeffC Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 that car will no the alston road fairly well, sounds like you picked the best route home enjoy Quote

I rang all the decent tyre places in NI today and not one of them had a Yoko A539 in stock. Turns out Yokohama don't ship them in to NI so it looks like I'll have to do that myself... I ended up putting a cheapish Firestone on instead as for once it's not raining, and I needed to go out and play Quote
adhawkins Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Tried George Polley Motorsport? They're usually competitive on price, dunno what shipping to Northern Ireland would be like though. Andy Quote
Blatman Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Northern Ireland is part of the UK. Shipping there is not a problem as it counts as a domestic movement... Quote
adhawkins Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 It is part of the UK (but isn't part of Britain...), but I wasn't sure if it would count as being mainland UK (which a lot of delivery companies specify). I'll bow to your superior knowledge on this however. Andy Quote
Blatman Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 There is normally no distinction made for Northern Ireland, the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man and most of the Scottish isles as far as logistics is concerned. Companies who try to surcharge rarely like being labelled as discriminating against the populations of the UK purely becuase there is a small stretch of water between them. It'd be a bit of a joke considering we *are* an island nation, and we used to have an empire spanning 1/3rd of the planet which was concquered before manned flight had been invented. You can see why it's difficult for delivery companies to charge extra... Quote
adhawkins Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 You can see why it's difficult for delivery companies to charge extra... Since when has what a lot of businesses charge made any kind of sense? Andy Quote
