Steve L Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 In response to a query in the German Seven-IG forum, I posted engine weight information which I found on the Westfield World page. One person responded that the weight for the Pinto was way off. I looked for other information in the Internet but found only a table from Dave Williams, which dozens of people have further published. (The Williams table, however, is for a 2.3 L engine, or so it appears to me.) The information which I have found is below, including a translation of Peter's text and the original, in case anyone here reads German. If someone reading here has official information or happens to have a Pinto engine and a scale next to his or her computer, please respond. Tigger (Westfield world) Weight: - 140kgs Dave Williams Ford 2.3 Lima/Pinto L4 418 pounds Ford 2.3 Lima/Pinto L4 307 pounds Ford 2.3 Lima/Pinto L4 450 pounds Peter (German Seven-IG forum) The “naked” weight is 102 Kg. “Naked” means without clutch, ignition, alternator but with cast iron water pump and all cast iron pulleys. A standard clutch (reduced but with mechanism and disc) weighs 11 Kg, the distributor 0.8 Kg and an alternator 4 Kg. Total, 117.8 Kg. One can save about 3-4 Kg on the water pump, alternator, pulleys and so on, so that an engine ready for installation will weigh under 115 Kg. Eine Standard-Kupplung (erleichtert, aber mit Automat und Scheibe) wiegt 11 Kg, der Verteiler 0,8Kg und eine Lima 4Kg Alles zusammen also 117,8Kg An der Wasserpumpe, Lima, Riemenscheiben usw. kann man noch mal 3-4Kg sparen, so dass man unter 115Kg für den einbaufertigen Motor kommt. davidgh Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 "totaler Quatsch" Pleased to see that the standards of diplomacy on the Seven-IG forum are well up to those operated here Quote
predawson Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I think the pinto weight is approx 3 duratecs, or 2 X-flows, whichever units you prefer. I have a pinto BTW so no accusing me of being pintoist. Quote
Steve L Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 @davidgh Did I forget to translate something? @predawson I think the pinto weight is approx 3 duratecs, or 2 X-flows Is that official from Ford? Quote
