Boxerman33 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 sorry but t's actually 250 to break even, but they have confirmed an extra 45 today to Emirates Quote
peterg Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 it's still nowhere near as big as the Antonov 225 that was on Massive Machines (Ch 5) this week - but they've only ever made one Quote
david.c Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Heard on the radio that it's first (test) flight was today in France. It also said it could carry 500 passengers............I thought that 747's were pretty much that already David Quote
Frau Vesty Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 That's for their anticipated luxury layout with bars, showers, gym etc. Total capacity if it's all laid out as seating is somewhere over 800. Edit: Around 840 Quote

S8ight Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 some french bloke on the radio today said its as easy as riding a bike to fly it he must struggle like f##k to ride a bike Quote
barney Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 That's for their anticipated luxury layout with bars, showers, gym etc. It was the same with the 747 jumbo when it came out, promised the earth ,but then the bean counters found out you could put more seats in and guess what happened.. Brilliant bit of engineering though, makes our 737,s look like toytown The logistics of getting the wingsets from broughton to france have been a feat of engineering as well from what i can tell, the factory`s changed a bit since i worked there 17 years ago..its absolutley massive now Barney Quote
I.S.M Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 by the river then shipped to france, and road trip to toulouse barney from wht they were saying. But boxerman will confirm, they cant take them with the beluga (sp?) becuase they are too damn big. More interested in the trent 900 RR royce turbines myself. Quote
barney Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 i believe they had to make a big concrete apron over the railway to get them to the river dee ,then on barges to mostyn docks not too far from flint then on to france, and i thought our A330 were big.. Quote
sjtoolan Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I had a look around the aircraft in Toulouse late last year. The hangar had three of them in there and it took a while to get your head around the scale of it all. It was only put into perspective for me when you saw one of the workers walk past an open aircraft doorway many stories up in the air; the aircraft is enormous and the pictures don't do it justice. Hope their flight test programme goes well, then we all have enormous queues at immigration to look forward too... Simon. Quote
Rob Navin Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Barney. Will you be working on one ? If so have the caught on to metric yet as I could do with some M6's in my favorite metal Quote
