m12oly Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I treid to put my 2.0 zetec engine with type 9 box in today without much luck! The holes in the chassis do not seem to line up with the engine mounts on either side. Do I need to drill new holes for the mounts or should the engine fit onto the pre drilled ones! I cant move it back where it needs to be beacuse the starter housing hits the bulk head and it is also dictated by the propshaft length Quote
chazpowerslide Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Is this a new build? What chassis do you have (MT75 or T9) Is it narrow or wide? Chaz. Quote
Owen9364 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 You should have another plate bolted to the chassis with four bolts just in front of the plate with two holes , which you need to mark and drill . (if it's a new build) Paul . Quote
Mark19800_0 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Had a similar issue with my dads Caterham when trying to install a Zetec, turns out that you need a type 9 with a long layshaft and a 30mm spacer. Not sure if its the same for a westfield though Quote
Matt Crisp Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 You will need to cut a piece off the starter bit of the bell housing and have it welded up, then it will go back far enough. You should find the plastic thermostat housing is very close to the bulkhead when its as far back as poss. You may have to drill other holes for the engine mounts, but they will be close. Someone will have a pic of the bit to cut off the bell housing. HTH Matt Quote
Westfieldman Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Best I have but you get the idea right hand side there is a bit cut off and a plate welded over the new hole Quote
