langy Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 OK, i have decided to get a bullet / helmet camera but can't decide which lense to go for (see options above) or click here (package 3) or do i pay an additional £10 and go for both. I shall be mainly using it on blats, track days, snowboarding, kite flying whilst on a kite buggy and anything else i can think of. I never did get the hang of photography, so any advise welcome. barney Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 i use the helmet camera for my in car stuff, very happy with the results, but if its only a tenner difference for both, you cant beat that.. Barney Quote
CocoPops Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 I've been looking at these recently and will proabably go for a "package". I'm considering package 4 at £155 iirc? Quote
langy Posted April 18, 2005 Author Posted April 18, 2005 i couldn't see much difference between 3 and 4 apart from 4 working in a lower light (lux) ? Quote
CocoPops Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Nor could I, but I figured for the extra £10 it might be a better camera? I also thought about concealing it behind the front grill (out of sight) and hence it may be a little darker in that area? Quote
langy Posted April 19, 2005 Author Posted April 19, 2005 Package 3 ordered with a 4.3mm lense, hopefully the first trial will be at the 'Oakington Test Evening' Quote
studbuckle Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 I have both lenses for my cam and it's the better quality camera. A lot depends on where you're going to locate the camera but I would say from editing all the C2C footage etc that the wider the shot the better it is for an enjoyment of viewing purpose. unless you're limited to a mounting point that will put large amounts of bodywork etc in the view of the wide angle lens then that would be my choice. langy Posted April 19, 2005 Author Posted April 19, 2005 I'll give the 4.3mm lense a try and go from there Quote
studbuckle Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Where did you mount your cam studbuckle? We've had it in various places and i'm experimenting at the moment. the footage for the C2C 2004 was with it on the top left corner of the skuttle in front of the windscreen pillar but that meant that the bonnet filled almost 1/3 of the screen. Favoutites so far ar the middle of the screen and the top of the bonnet bulge but neither are good for getting the wires too Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 I've ordered the 2.9 lens package and the good thing is that u can use the case to locate it in the car. Can't really say what its like on car as I haven't used it but with just general fannying about the quality is very good and the angle seems fine Buzz Quote
langy Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 I have just taken delivery of a 'package 3' with a 4.3mm lense and i shall be having a play later on and try and mount it to the roll bar. i shall post a screenshot when i sort it all out. Quote
langy Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 it was quick, less than 24 hours between placing the order and having it in my hand Quote
langy Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 After an hour or so of farting about getting it to work, i have mounted the newly acquired camera to the roll bar, made my first movie and screen captured the following for all to see Don't know who the gimp in the corner is though Quote
