adhawkins Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Careful with things like that. Only umlimited interest free deal I've seen required you to spend a certain amount on the card each month. Of course, any payments you make go towards paying off the balance transfer, so you're instantly paying interest on the amount you have to spend. Andy Quote
S8ight Posted April 17, 2005 Author Posted April 17, 2005 dont think im going to be able to get away with what i want to do, but worth a try Quote
adhawkins Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 If you get it right, it can work really well. I still haven't paid for the first Westfield I bought about 2 and a half years ago . Better the money earning interest in my savings account if the credit cards are happy to keep giving me 0%. Andy Quote
peterg Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Oooh yes, we've earnt £300 in interest on our 'savings' in an ING Direct account whilst the credit card companies let us rest our debts in their systems should be over a grand better off by the end of the year Quote
S8ight Posted April 17, 2005 Author Posted April 17, 2005 the snag ive got is that i want to try and spend €140,000 and see if and how long i can take the p***, oops, i mean get away with this on balance transfers even if i can get 12 months i' be more than happy Quote
woz Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 same thing was on radio2 on friday on the jeremy vine show go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/vine/ to listen again. Quote
peterg Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 the answer for those who can't or don't want to listen again to the programme is that it was the Texaco credit card for balance transfers (ie you have to transfer an exsisteing credit card debt) but it's not 0%, it's 3.9% for the life of the balance best we've found recently is Capital One - 0% for nine months Quote
S8ight Posted April 17, 2005 Author Posted April 17, 2005 cheers Woz it was radio 2 how sad am i listening to radio 2 think i might have a few problems trying to transfer such a high balance Quote

Blatman Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 The Woolwich (owned by Barclays) have every so often been offering balance transfers at 0% for 12 months. I got one (Woolwich/Visa Platinum ) a couple of months back... Quote
