Westfieldman Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Better gloves Half doors from Fluke Motorsport Try again before you sell the air temp was only 7 to 8 deg C last wekend around here Quote
Mark Stanton Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Thats bad news - have you tried wearing one of those wrist support braces ? and some racing gloves or perhaps the thermal inner gloves that the bikers use might help Quote
rsjp Posted April 9, 2005 Author Posted April 9, 2005 thanks for the imformation ,ive tried all different type of gloves over the years they are great for short periods but the cold allways gets through as for the wrist supports ive had them all ,at the moment ive got a full leather fore arm to finger tip support which i had to wear last weekend after approx 100 miles driving , so it dosent look good for the westfield at the moment jp Quote

itguy Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Can totally sympathise with you here. I have Reynolds phenomenon in my hands and to a lesser extent in my feet. If I go outside and the airtemp/windchill is less than about 10 degrees it takes only a matter of minutes until I can't feel my fingers. I've too been looking at the electric motorbike gloves, might get a pair of the inner gloves rather than the massive looking big jobbies. It was pure joy last weekend though to be able to go out on Saturday morning with the temp around 15 to 17 degrees and have no gloves on, and no problems. I know it’s not quite the same for you, but I was determined after I lost all my weight to buy and love a Westfield (narrow body! - I now have achieved that and I love it more after every drive. Just got to push through the pain barrier or pay bupa to sort it out. Good luck mate - don't give up too easy Quote
markg Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 i drove mine for the first time to the sva test, 6 am on the m54 at > 80, the air temp was -3 or 4c, despite stopping and trying to warm my hands from the engine heat and the sva chaps at shrewsbury trying to revive me with lots of hot tea! i didnt really get warm for two days! my own stupid fault for thinking about tools and stuff to pass the test, i left home in a t-shirt and fleece jumper have you tried some neoprene for insulation like a wetsuit jacket or something? chazpowerslide Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 I suffer very badly carpul tunnel syndrome, this was a factor in me stopping riding motorbikes (though I do still ride occasionally) I have found it's worse in cold weather and wearing heated inner gloves helps dramatically. In the Westy my right hand plays up a bit in the cold (tingling/numb fingers) but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to get on the bike (at times I could'nt feel my hands ) I also used to find that the more "tingley" the bike the worse my hands got (worse on high reving sports 400cc bikes than my ZZR1100 for example) not a problem with my Zetec SE I'd be tempted to try out some heated inner gloves before you sell the car. Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 That b*stard Reynolds! Him and Parkinson 'ave a lot to answer for... Quote
S8ight Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 THESE might be worth a try. scroll down to "CRESSI, GLOVES METALLITE 3.5MM" me and the wife wear them for snowboarding, theyre quite thin so they stay flexible and have worn them damp at about -15 and hands stayed lovely and warm Quote
hilux Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Could the angle/reach be wrong for you so that you are fighting the wheel with wrist action instead of arm action. What about a removeable steering wheel (so you can get in and out) thats got spacers or elongated spokes so its nearer to you. Its not girly either, look at rally drivers who use their arms primarily and F1 drivers do not drive with outstretched arms. Quote
rsjp Posted April 10, 2005 Author Posted April 10, 2005 thanks for the replys ,ive been out in it again today ,i borrowed my mates motorbike gloves thermal lined they did help a bit but the cold did get through but not as bad ,as for the driving position yes that could be an issue ,it has got a removable steering wheel that does help getting in and out, the driving position isint to bad but i think the hard drive is something to do with it, the vibration, pot holes on our brilliant roads this all contributes to my problem ,bouncing my wrist about, and like i said there is no movement at all so any sudden jolt and its very painfull,so i think its the end of the road for the westfield journy for me and back to a more convential car ,still want a small sports car might try a lotus exige or something similar with a screen and a heater /power steering ,so if anybody does want a megabusa this one is deffinatly for sale email me for full spec on ------------- suepriest912@hotmail.com regards jp Quote
