windy Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Been pondering this recently & struggling to find the answer. So we have an election coming soon. Who is the best party to vote for who will: 1) Resurface the entire country's roads? 2) Reduce tax on fuel? 3) Reduce road tax? 4) Get the muppets that can't drive off the roads by taking their licenses away? 5) Take away speed limits on motorways? 6) Stop ploughing money into public transport? 7) Get our car industry back on track? 8) Stop road toll schemes? 9) Flatten road humps? 10) Stop women taking their kids to school in their chelsea taxi's & get them to walk instead? Advice please? Quote
Westfields Rock On Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 conservatives want rid of humps and cameras. Quote
S8ight Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 5) Take away speed limits on motorways? that would be scary !! think of all those useless blind gits who crap themselves driving at 60 mph, imagine how they'd cope with loads of other cars travelling at over 100 mph Quote
Frau Vesty Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 No it'd be fine, because no (4) was take away the licences of all the muppets who can't drive Quote
Blatman Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 conservatives want rid of humps and cameras. Conservative local councillors certainly do if the London Borough of Barnet is anything to go by. In the last 12-18 months they have removed *lots* of road humps from the side streets, and of course the happy by product of that is they get resurfaced too. Driving around the borough has become almost pleasurable... Quote
windy Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 OK tories ahead so far - assuming you trust em! Quote
Blatman Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 I think it's more like who you don't trust the least where politicians are concerned... Quote
Arm Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Any Party that has a transport policy. Any Party that has a transport policy that doesnt increase cost in a futile effort to dissuade us from driving. In fact any Party that has ANY policy they are capable of seeing through to a successful conclusion. Today it cost us £110 to fuel up 2 vehicles. Predicted amount that will go towards the roads or reducing congestion - 50p. Quote
mud Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 i agree with ash because i haven't got a clue about this either Quote
windy Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 Yes looks like I'm not the only one having difficulty avoiding not bothering to vote at all Isn't Jeremy Clarkson getting into politics? What about the Monster Raving Lunes - do they have a transport policy? Today it cost us £110 to fuel up 2 vehicles. Predicted amount that will go towards the roads or reducing congestion - 50p. Ash, When I went to new Zealand there were empty roads, to fill a 80 litre tank with either BP or Shell fuel it cost a mere £18. Judging by the immaculately maintained road network & a population of only 4 million taxpayers, I'd suggest all the money there goes back into the roads. What's gone wrong in the UK then? Quote
markcoopers Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 What about the Monster Raving Lunes - do they have a transport policy? Space Cake allegedly...... Quote

It feels like the scenes of Mad Max are looming very close. Do you want some help capturing a petrol tanker by any chance Quote
