itguy Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Just been out last night for the first drive of the year since the engine rebuild over the winter... Upped the compression ratio, new 151 webers, 3d igntion and boy has it made a difference... Totally NO hesitations anywhere in the rev range at any throttle load, driven about 35 miles so far and have not heard a single pop or bang out of the exhaust yet Not bad for an xflow. Cannot recommend the 3d ignition enough to anybody wanting to improve the throttle response and general running of their car - totally transformed mine. Need to thank some peeps now, without whom the rebuild would never of happend and I'd still be driving round in a leaking, poor running xflow. Bob Green - thank you for showing me initially how well a car can run on carbs, but also for all the help with the engine out/rebuild/back in Bill Shurvinton - for the megajolt 3d kit and all of the advice you have given me on tuning webers. Its the kind of knowledge that will stay with me for life now, and I avoided the cost of a rolling road John Slapp (marsdalebear) - for the advice about the polo rad Mike Tanski (Ferriday Engineering) - What a top bloke. Tells you how it is and the work he's done for me is spot on for a good price. Kevin (Highbury Hoses) - Again, another true diamond of a chap. Just went over with my old hoses and he got the duck tape out, we made what I wanted on his desk and then 3 days later I had it in silicone! My father-in-law - for constantly purswading me that I should do that extra thing I was thinking of doing (thanks, wallet now empty), but I need to pushed sometimes. So this morning off to get the tracking done. Thanks all, Will Quote
