a4gom Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 I currently have my pipes going into an old plastic header tank. I want to replace for two reasons, 1)to seal the top and keep the fumes from the cockpit, 2) to secure the tank for safety and meet the 1lt regulations. Where's the best / cheapest to get one from? 1lt seems hard to come by, either too small or too big.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Not quite sure what capacity they are, but the Car Builders Solutions ones Here seem to be getting popular. PS, nearly gone now, but Happy Birthday
ROC Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Andy, This one may be suitable? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws....55&rd=1 nowt to do with me and all that. Cheers, Rich.

PS, nearly gone now, but Happy Birthday Thanks for the birthday wishes. I checked these out yesterday as I have seen alot in use in the paddock. I decided against as I want one which is at least 1.0lt you can read into that what you want. I'm not one for starting trouble.

smithydar Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 i got mine from www.europaspares.com .not the cheapest but exactly what i wanted and it fitted neat and tidyon the engine side of the drivers footwell..but not sure what size it is..somethings telling me its 2 litre.but cant remember. if you know someone who can ali weld it looks a piece of p++s to make..doing it that way you can choose the shape/size you want..and probably a lot cheaper.. might be worth speaking to westfieldman..he could maybe help..i remember him sayimng about modifying a rollbar but i dont know about ali welding.. darren
Gromit Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 We`re about to start making these, do you have any idea what size of tank you want, how many inlets and inlet size?
a4gom Posted April 1, 2005 Author Posted April 1, 2005 Something similar to the 0801S at Europa, size wise 8"tall, 4"wide, 3"deep. With preferably 3 1/2" push fit connections on the top (but 2 1/2" and one smaller one for the outlet / breather would be ok), drain plug and a sight guide on the front face. (wide is the face with the brackets on, deep is the dimension from the bracket to the front if that makes sense) How much?, PM me if you want any more info
scruffythefirst Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 We`re about to start making these, do you have any idea what size of tank you want, how many inlets and inlet size? How much and how soon?
Gromit Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Hopefully i`ll know by the end of the weekend how much they`ll be and should be able to have a couple ready by the end of the week, we`ve had a bit of a setback on the tooling for these and as a conciquence have had to make our own cutters up for the end plate (I was quoted £280 for a circular cutter that could cut out the end plates). Ours will be cylindrical but we can alter the number of inlets/outlets to suit.

Gromit Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 For "we" re me. Its a small buisness i`m trying to get off the ground with a old friend of mine.
a4gom Posted April 2, 2005 Author Posted April 2, 2005 Hopefully i`ll know by the end of the weekend how much they`ll be and should be able to have a couple ready by the end of the week, we`ve had a bit of a setback on the tooling for these and as a conciquence have had to make our own cutters up for the end plate (I was quoted £280 for a circular cutter that could cut out the end plates). Ours will be cylindrical but we can alter the number of inlets/outlets to suit. Gromit, I'm not really bothered about size as long as its greater than the required 1lt capacity req in the blue book, for marketing purposes you probably want to make it 2lt this would cover more classes race cars etc. Let me know how much as soon as you know. Circular is fine as long as there is some sort of bracket, it was my intention to bolt to the panel between the footwell and the engine bay. I currently have 2x 1/2" ID pipes going in to my plastic one and when its sealed I will need a breather pipe coming out. So 2 in 1 out for me, all 1/2"
Gromit Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 ok then for a 2 litre tank, it`ll be about 25cm high. Is that ok. 3 pipes on the top will be 12mm, so thats near to your 1/2". Was intending on putting 2 brackets at right angles to the longitudanal axis giving 4 mounting holes. We`ve had a bit of a setback today in the workshop so it`ll be another couple of days till I know prices/more details. Sorry about that, so if your desparate for the tank you might be better getting one from somewhere else. I dont want to loose a sale but on the other hand I dont want to keep you waiting, so i`d rather be straight with you and let you know whats happening rather that fobbing you off with bum excuses. More info as soon as I can get it sorted. Phil
