MikeB Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 On Sunday the fruit of my loins is 21. He has already had a Zetec S and a Civic Type R and wants a Scooby now. Should he grow up and get a Westy like the Old Man (I mean Fart) and the real folks. The only problem is that the driving wheels are at the back. Will he need new under pants? Quote
Nick M Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 Blimey. I only had a rusty MGB GT when I was 21 ! Quote

Blatman Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 why the hell cant i get insurance on a 2lt 7? Who else have you rung? If you haven't spoken to Dave Spragg at MSM or Hill House Hammond, then you need to. Do a search for the numbers...... Quote
Big Bad Ben Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 Don't Count out CIC ((01206) 792927) either - they gave me a pretty good quote when I was considering a r bin H d (I'm 22 - £250 fully comp on a 2 litre S7, 2000 miles). The chap was I spoke to was very friendly I had a go with Firebond too, but the bloke couldn't understand why the trim level of the donor sierra didn't matter (was it a GL or a GLX? Who gives a sh t - the car was scrapped and only the engine was left). Despite this I got a pretty competitive quote from them (£500ish), although I'm not sure what would have happened if I'd had to make a claim.... Quote
scruffythefirst Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 msm's quote was £537 fully comp, 4years ncb, age 21, 220bhp dax rush. Result. Great service too, just a few questions and then the nice lady rung me back in about 10 minutes Guess i'd better put the order in then Cheers blatman Scruffy Quote

Messer Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 You cant beat tesco and direct line, at 20 had Lancia Integrale EVO1 insurance cost £1400 fully comp.. BONUS! 22 now ans my insurance on wessy 2.0 vx with no no claims (as they are on my other car) is £470.. Quote
MartT Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 Footman James ... point to note.. I spoke to them at the Exeter show. Apparently if you have another policy with them that you are cancelling in order to insure your latest car, then you are entitled to a pro rata rebate on the old one. If you just cancel without pointing this out and your original policy has run for more than 6 months you won't get a penny. Obviously if the new policy is in the same department then you would just change car details. As I've just sold my TR6 to buy my first Westie, I'll insure through them for the first year as I should get about £60 back. Worth bearing in mind if you're changing cars. FWIW, I'm 31 and fully comp, 3000 miles on a 2 litre pinto Westie should be £170 with FJ. Also worth bearing in mind, if you're thinking of adding a mate to your policy for a particular trip ( Le Mans, maybe ) it may pay to put them on from the start. Assuming the overall premium isn't affected (good driver, not younger etc) ... no cost, but if you do it part way through you'll be charged an admin fee .. £15 or so. ( you don't have to let on that they're insured though!! ) Quote
