Exhausts in South London

Here's a story.....I noticed that my standard 5" silencer was sounding like a pea in a baked bean tin so I've decided to get it re-packed & paid a visit to my local Longlife exhaust specialist in Carshalton, South West London / Surrey.

Now, the Longlife workshop is at the old 'Mike The Pipe' (R.I.P)address & basically makes up whatever you require, obviously making plenty of money out of your M*x P***r type Scooby & Saxo owners. Saying this, their workmanship is superb & they were more than happy to split open & re-pack my silencer for £45 quid!!!! :).

I went to the back office to sign the jobsheet for my exhaust only to be met by a guy called Dave. Dave used to own/run Specialised Exhaust Systems in Mitcham & there's nothing he dosnt know about tubes, pipes & bends. This guy spent about 20 minutes telling me about & showing me pictures of the F1 systems he made for Renault & Ligier in the 80's & how he had to make a system for a £3.5 million Auto Union. If you ever visited his workshop in Mitcham there would always be something interesting there. Anyway, he's now sold up a decided to work for Longlife until he becomes 'exhausted' & retires. So, if you need any specialist work done get down to see him coz a nicer geezer you will not meet.

There are other Longlife centres but I cant vouch for those, check them at www.exhausts.uk.com.

Nice one :t-up:

Mike the Pipe created the exhaust manifolds that I use on the Cossie. Nice to know he's still around...

Sorry Blatman, If you read again...Mike passed away about 2 years ago!!! The Longlife workshop is in his old premises.

I had rather hoped that R.I.P meant sorely missed, rather than actually dead. Oh well...
