How bad is it with them bl**** roadworks?

Got to drop my parents off there on Saturday, need to know whether to leave 2 hours or 2 weeks before check in...

All clear at 2 o'clock yesterday, don't know what a Saturday looks like on M25 though. I built that bit 15 years ago... It's been re-done about 3 times since! :D

No, the works are still there. It's the building of Terminal 5 and the extra infrastructure that's going on, and it'll be there for a while yet...

Get off the M25 at either the A412, or the M40.

A412 to Denham, then A40 > Central London. Off the A40 at the A312, and follow the signs for Heathrow, which is a right turn (3rd exit off the roundabout, southbound on the 312).

From M25/M40, head for Central London, then the same applies. Get off the A40 at the A312.

If reports suggest the roadworks are clear, then M25 it to the M4.

Or tell your parents to get a taxi/bus/train and spend the day with your Westfield.

      ;)

Ah, but I get £150 out of the deal to cover petrol, time, etc...

And the extra runway...

Nope, no extra runway at Heathrow, I don't think...

Saw the plans a while back when they were considering extending Gatwick, Stansted and Cliffe along with Heathrow. Although how Cliffe can lay claim to being Londons 4th airport I'll never know, 'cos it's nowhere near London...

Went there once on a job, and it's not much more than a *big* runway and a collection of portacabins, and it was all but in total darkness at 21.00hrs...

As for the 3rd runway, it was gonna be the wrong side of the A4 from the rest of the airport, and meant demolishing a Norman church and two villages, so *I think* the plans got shelved. A quick Google reveals not much seems to have changed in the last 18 months or so...

That set of traffic lights would lead to some interesting photos I'm sure ;)

a long time ago (pre-WW2) my Dad used to cycle a couple of miles to Croydon Airport (which was THE London Airport before the war) and watch as a man closed level crossing type gates across a road called Plough Lane so the international planes could taxi to the full extent of the runway ready for take-off (they were mainly Junkers IIRC)  :t-up:  ;)

About 6.30pm by the time I've dropped them off, but we're then going on to Swindon to see Rob Marshall and do a bit of karting on the Sunday.

Thanks for the offer though...

Aha, so you're one of the guests Rob Marshall is bringing that he doesn't want to drive with? :D

See you Sunday...
