Another CD Writing Problem

Recommended Posts

Posted

Following your advice, i have replaced the CD-RW drive and proved that the old one was b*******ed.............well I think so anyway.

I have managed to write to disc etc which is what I couldn't do before. I put some photos on to a disc, and then tried to call them up again. As it does the computer opens them in windows picture viewer, and the dialogue box comes up saying previewing, and then says 'Drawing Failed'!

If I try to open it with Elements it says that the file may be truncated etc?

In Explorer it clearly shows each photo in the bottom left hand corner, so it is there.

HELP ME.................PLEASE!

Rich.

Are they on a CDR, or a CDRW? I have had some problems transferring files between drives when a RW is used. I realise you are using just the one drive, but it's the only thing that springs to mind. But then, I'm not a pooter techie...

I cannot retrieve from an old CD-R or the new CD-RW that I tried to test the new CD-RW drive with.

Based on the confusing words in the dialogue boxes I think I am in need of a real 'Pooter Boffin'............if you are out there?

what did you use to write to the cd? and at what speed did you write? the files could of corrupted while transfering. try burning the cd at a lower speed.

Could you view the pictures with MS picture viewer before you wrote them to CD?

A quick (very quick) google turned up the fact that MS PV has trouble reading some standard file types due to the way they have been compressed by the original software/hardware. If you see what I mean.  ???  :0  :suspect:

reinstall!!!

there is no better solution that that!

I sometimes get issues with jpegs that have been created from raw files, but I wouldnt imagine you are using raw images.

truncated is blurred isnt it.. dont see that this would be caused by writing files to cd.
