Buzz Billsberry Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I can't believe I've just spent 2 days preparing a Powerpoint presentation on my works laptop and the FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF******g thing as just gone tits up and my presentation is at 14.00hrs this afternoon!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Quote
Frau Vesty Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 You mean you didn't save your presentation onto a disk or memory stick? Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted March 3, 2005 Author Posted March 3, 2005 It was while I was backing it up onto the hot swappable HD...... I just can't believe it. All I've get when I re-boot is MS dos then goes into xp then crashes then a load of characters appear on the screen in DOS. I’m just waiting for the tech department to call back. Trouble is the content is company/project specific so I can’t spec with the tech guys etc........................... Quote
Westfieldman Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Just turn up and set it up and let them see it crash in front of there eyes and say it just happened Quote
steppenwolf Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Paul, I'm shocked! Excellent idea though ...... Buzz - you could just try starting in 'safe mode' and then closing down and re-booting It is amazing how many ills this will resolve. Quote
chrisbin Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Just turn up and set it up and let them see it crash in front of there eyes and say it just happened Good thinking that man!!! Quote

v7slr Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 All is not lost. If the worst comes to the worst and the OS has crashed, you should be able to slave the disk to another XP machine and read your data off it. Quote
