KerryS Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Tonight's objective was to fit the roll bar, which involved cutting a 2" dia hole in the boot box and then 12mm hole for the bolts. Done that. I now notice that the boot box is fouling the fuel tank filler pipe a bit which stops it going as far backward as it perhaps should. AFAIK the tank is in correct place and fuel filler is connected OK. It's perhaps OK but it will be hard onto the filler pipe when it's bolted in place which doesn't seem quite right. Anyone else noticed this? Kerry S Quote
greeny Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Yup, I had the same problem. Ended up atacking the offending area with a dremel until the box sat as it should. To cover it up I siliconed a piece of black rubber to the underside. It's not the ideal solution but I didn't have the time/expertise/equipment to remould and repaint the boot box. It still looks neat though and because it's right in the corner of the box it's not that noticeable. It's normally covered by the tonneau anyway so it did the job for me. Quote
JeffC Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I had that problem. i needed to shift the tank backwards but it wouldnt as it was tight on the filler neck ! i got round it by cutting an inch off the rubber hose, undo-ing the tank straps and leavering the tank backwards, my boot box was tapered and shifting the tank away from the diff allowed me sufficient clearence...worth a go? injidup Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I had the same problem with my tank (on an SE) and it needs to be lined up with the rear of the back chassis tube. I had it lines up with the frint of the tube and the bootbox touched the filler neck. HTH Kev. Quote

KerryS Posted March 7, 2005 Author Posted March 7, 2005 Sorted! Actually, hitting it with a hammer was not too far from the truth. Westyzx12 set me on the solution (thanks). By releasing the tank straps and one of teh jubilee hose clips on the rubber hose twixt tank and filler, the tank was persuaded rearwards about 3mm (knocked rearwards by thumping it by hand). The straps were then adjusted and boot box just clears. Kerry S Quote
